Plastx.net is a non-profit online forum for information sharing among plastic and cosmetic physicians and surgeons. ALL posts by credentialed physicians are accepted. Peer review is mediated by the entire member community.
Plastx.net hopes to become a resource for professionals to learn new applications and approaches, to develop skills, to offer opinions, and to improve patient care. Plastx.net is a site for physicians and surgeons to share their innovations, their successes and failures, to support colleagues, and to monetize their intellectual property. Plastx.net is a platform for demonstration of the proper use and integration of new technology in patient care.

Although evidence-based information is the foundation of safe and effective patient care, aesthetic medicine and surgery combines both art and science. Our pursuits, improved appearance and function, are both objective and subjective. The proof of our work is in the results of its application, but judgments of beauty vary among variable observers. Surveys validating a majority opinion do not necessarily invalidate a minority view. Differing approaches may solve the same problem more or less easily or cost-effectively and are subject to individual preference.
Practitioners rarely reach statistical significance or conduct prospective randomized double-blind controlled trials affirming the power of an innovation developed in their private office or operating room, but this limitation does not discredit their work. Plastx.net opens peer review to the worldwide community of specialists, hopefully incentivizing development and sharing of experience, viewpoints, observations, and useful artistic and scientific information. Our greater purpose is elevating standards of care, public health, and human quality of life.
Plastx.net is founded upon the belief that surgeons themselves should benefit from advancing our specialty with innovations, teaching, and by the sharing of observations, wisdom, techniques, and knowledge with peers.
Artificial intelligence collects, organizes, and presents existing erudition but the source of creativity in our specialized service sector still belongs to human professionals. At this time in history, machines can inform us, but do not advance our craft.
